Why Now?

The child welfare system is in crisis, in part due to the devastating opioid epidemic. Consider these facts:

• There are 4,608 documented cases of abuse and neglect in Nevada.
• Children spend an average of 13.8 months in foster care.
• Nevada mandates CASA volunteers for these children, yet it remains one of only six states that receives no state funding to meet this mandate.
